The High Point Police Department celebrates Black History Month!

Our police headquarters is named for one of the first African American police officers to serve in High Point - O.H. Leak Law Enforcement Center. Oriel Hardy Leak joined the HPPD in 1943. He was promoted to Captain in 1971 and was recognized as one of the highest-ranking African American police officers in a police department in the South. Captain Leak retired in 1975.

We are thankful for Captain Leak's groundbreaking career, which paved the way for many officers who continue to make lasting impacts in our community.
