On June 17, 2021, shortly after 1:00 a.m., Randolph County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Town and Country Mobile Home Park (aka- Deep River Haven) area on Hwy 64 West, Ramseur, in response to a shooting that had just occurred. Upon arrival, deputies discovered two people had been shot while sitting in a vehicle. The victims were identified as Tashara Nachelle Simmons, age 21, of Mount Gilead, NC, and Jonathan Monte Flowers, age 18, of Burlington, NC. Simmons was transported to an area hospital; her condition is unknown. Flowers succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact 911 immediately or call Crime Stoppers at 336-7CRIME (336-672-7463) if they wish to remain anonymous.
