From January 27, 2023 post.
Members of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Disaster Assistance Response Team(DART) attended the Law Enforcement Wilderness Operation class at Carvers Gap/Roan Mountain, NC.
The purpose of the training is to learn tactical tracking techniques and formations to help locate fleeing subjects. Most of this training was performed in an extreme cold climate with windchill in the negatives.
Training included micro tracking, wilderness ambush prevention, downed officer extraction under fire, and wilderness criminal apprehension/crime scene processing. Congratulations to the four newly LE Wilderness Operation certified deputies. The Sheriff’s Office DART now has seven active members who are certified in this training.
