JDRC and the Randolph County Sheriffs Department hosted the first BRICKS (building relationships in communities with kids and SROs) summer camp as part of a pilot program. The youth learned about gang and gun violence with special guests from the ATF, Sheriff Seabolt spoke to the youth about life and choices, they participated in physical activity and community service, they learned about the importance of team work, communication, and building relationships with friends and law enforcement. There were K-9 demonstrations, repelling from a 4 story building, lake activities, and a ropes course. These youth graduated from this portion of the camp and will move on to learn about living skills over the next two weeks.
Thank you all so much who assisted in making this a fun and educational week for our kids!
