Randolph Health has found a buyer, including funding from the county to help complete the transaction.
The Tennessee-based nonprofit The Dava Foundation agreed to acquire the debt-ridden hospital that includes $20 from Randolph County to refurbish the Asheboro-based health facilities, the website North Carolina Health News reported in in late August.
"The process of looking for a buyer has been really difficult," Randolph Health leader Angela Orth told North Carolina Health News. "And we've not — up until this point — really found a buyer who's been interested in keeping all of our services open, keeping the hospital open and purchasing all of our assets."
The 145-bed Randolph Health hospital will offer healthcare for maternity and cancer patients, North Carolina Health News reported.
"It's more than just a place for patients to go for health care," Darrell Frye, chairman of the Randolph County Board of Commissioners, told North Carolina Health News. "It has a lot to do with the economy of our county ... It has a lot to do with our future economy and our ability to recruit and retain jobs."
