Beginning in September, residents seeking assistance from the Randolph County Department of Social Services will be able to make an appointment for an in-person consultation for the first time since March 23, officials said.
After the initial lockdowns were put in place around the county in response to COVID-19 fears, anyone needing social services had to apply by a contact-less method such as electronic, phone or contact-less drop-off methods, the county Department of Social Services said in an August press release.
Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 1, the office will permit appointment-only visits from residents needing assistance, though the number of available appointments will be limited, department officials said in the release. Appointments will also only be conducted at the main office in Asheboro.
In addition to the social services office enforcing strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols, those who come for an appointment will have their temperature taken and have to answer questions about travel, potential exposure and symptoms, according to the release.
To make an appointment, call the department at 336-683-8000.
