On Saturday, Feb. 22, former Eastern Randolph High School standout Ayanna Mears’ current college team, the North Carolina A&T Aggies, lost 15-5 in their NCAA Division I softball game against the USC Upstate Spartans.
The game took place at Cyrill Stadium. This was their first matchup against the Upstate Spartans this season.
The Aggies’ next game is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. at Cyrill Stadium against USC Upstate Spartans.
Melissa Dawn Staley was arrested by Randolph County authorities after allegedly failing to update her address following release from prison as required by law. She remains held without bond pending a court appearance.
Archdale will host its 6th Annual Field of Honor Dedication to honor fallen service members. A brief ceremony and flag display are planned at Park Drive from May 21 through June 1.
Joshua Paul Dix has been arrested and charged with multiple counts related to sexual exploitation of a minor after an investigation by local authorities. The Invictus Task Force led efforts resulting in his arrest on May 7. The investigation is ongoing.
