Opioid Settlement Funding Requests Now Open

Randolph County has announced that the second cycle of its Opioid Abatement Request for Applications (RFA) is now open. The application and related materials are available on the Randolph County Purchasing Office website under Current Bid Opportunities at https://www.randolphcountync.gov/273/Purchasing-Office.

Applicants must attend an Interested Party Conference to be eligible, which will take place on January 13, 2026, at noon. Attendance can be in-person or virtual, and registration is required through https://forms.office.com/g/vWT0ibD0Fe.

Key dates for the process include a deadline for questions about the application by January 27, 2026, at 4:00 pm. A Frequently Asked Questions document with all received questions will be released on February 3, 2026, at 4:00 pm. The final deadline to submit applications is February 16, 2026, at 4:00 pm.

Inquiries regarding the RFA should be directed to opioidgrants@randolphcountync.gov.

Meanwhile, data from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction shows ongoing challenges in college readiness among Randolph County students. For example, only about one in six senior students taking the science portion of the ACT were considered ready for college during the 2022-23 school year (https://www.dpi.nc.gov/). Similar results were seen among juniors taking science and other subjects such as reading and math (https://www.dpi.nc.gov/). These statistics highlight broader issues affecting local youth as Randolph County works to address public health concerns like opioid misuse through initiatives such as this funding opportunity.
