On January 8, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office identified a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a business on US Hwy 64 E. in Asheboro. Authorities determined that the vehicle’s registration was expired. The driver, Justin Matthew Stiltner, 30, was found to have a suspended driver’s license.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of an illegal substance and drug paraphernalia. Stiltner was arrested and taken to the Randolph County Detention Center. According to officials, “the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.” He received a $5,000 secured bond with his first court appearance scheduled for January 8, 2026, at Randolph County District Court.
In other news related to education in Randolph County, recent data from local school districts shows that only a small percentage of students are considered ready for college based on ACT scores.
