In November 2025, the Invictus Task Force began investigating a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The investigation led to Landon Keith McDaniel, age 44 of Randleman, being identified as a suspect.

On January 9, 2026, members of the Invictus Task Force and the Randleman Police Department executed a search warrant. As a result, McDaniel was taken into custody and charged with ten counts of felony second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he received a $100,000 secure bond. His first court appearance in Randolph County District Court is scheduled for January 12, 2026.

The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office or representatives from the Invictus Task Force.

The Invictus Task Force is a collaborative initiative involving agencies from Randolph, Alamance, Davidson, and Forsyth Counties, along with the State Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security. The task force focuses on combating internet crimes against children (ICAC), sexual abuse, trafficking, and child exploitation through joint resources.

Those who believe they or someone they know may be victims of child exploitation or trafficking can call the national hotline at 1-888-373-7888 or text “HELP” to 233733 for assistance.
