In February 2026, members of the Invictus Task Force conducted an operation in which they posed as an underage female online. During this operation, a person initiated contact seeking sexual interaction. Following this exchange, investigators identified Jeremy James Prashaw, a registered sex offender from Nakina, North Carolina, as the suspect.
The State Bureau of Investigation Computer Crimes Unit arrested Prashaw at the request of the Invictus Task Force. He has been charged with one count of felony disseminating harmful material to a minor. After his arrest, Prashaw was taken to the Columbus County Detention Center where a magistrate denied bond and scheduled his first court appearance for February 26, 2026, in Columbus County District Court.
Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing and are encouraging anyone with information to contact their local Alamance County Invictus Task Force representative.
